Flip-flops and snow
I think I’m the only person in Utah that wears flip-flops in mid-winter. I love them. I love my feet being free. And in reality, one’s feet warm up faster when you get into a building, so it’s really not all that bad. And in a way, it’s my denial of reality–my refusal to acknowledge that it really is far too cold for bare feet. I deny a lot of reality, but this is one of the most obvious ways that I do this, and I get comments on it all the time. It gives me a sort of sense that no matter what’s happening, no matter what the weather is like, I won’t let it control me. I can make my own decisions without regard to external consequences. Damn the snow! Full speed ahead! Call me crazy, but I like flip-flops in the winter.
