I despise the days when I'm forced to drive an automatic. The day they stop selling manual transmission cars is the day I move to a nice walkable city and splurge on a great bicycle.

the concept of a car that automaticly adjusts gear ratios wasnt invented until sometime in the 70's if I remember correctly and though an impressive feat in the way it was done (i'll spare you the overt nerdyness here) but the recent improvements have made them come much closer in gas consumption, but I still prefer a manual; and as far as my traveles have taken me thus far the States has been the only country where an automatic has become the majority rule... granted this could just be my spite for my general opinion of lazy Americans
